JAMMU (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the Drabshalla area of Kishtwar district.
According to a police statement, a written complaint was received at Police Post Drabshalla from the victim’s grandmother alleging that her 12-year-old granddaughter had been sexually assaulted.
The accused was identified as Imran Hossain, son of Shamsuddin, resident of Bhugrana Badhat, Tehsil Drabshalla, District Kishtwar.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Naresh Singh said that acting promptly on the complaint, Police Station Kishtwar registered FIR No. 149/2026 under Sections 7, 8, 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A special police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Kishtwar, along with the In-Charge Police Post (ICPP) Drabshalla and other police officials, was constituted under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Kishtwar to investigate the case.
The police team successfully arrested the accused, while further investigation is underway and legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with law, the statement said. — (KIMS)
