Man arrested with 6 kg of charas-like substance in Pulwama

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a man in Pulwama district and seized a significant quantity of contraband from his possession.

“During a naka checking at Circular Road near Payer Crossing, a team from Police Station Pulwama spotted a man moving suspiciously with a nylon bag. On searching the bag, officers recovered around 6 kilograms of a charas-like substance. The accused has been identified as Nisar Ahmad Ganaie, son of Abdul Ahad Ganaie, resident of Tahab, Pulwama. He was immediately taken into custody,” Pulwama Police said in a statement.

In this regard, FIR No. 229/2025 has been registered under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Pulwama.

“Investigation is underway to uncover the broader network involved in this illegal activity,” the statement added.

Pulwama Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any information related to drug peddling or suspicious activities. — (KIMS)
