SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Manpreet Singh, National Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress, has strongly condemned the assault on an 18-year-old Kashmiri shawl seller in Uttarakhand and demanded immediate and strict action against the culprits.
In a statement, Singh said the brutal assault on a young Kashmiri shawl seller was a shameful reminder of the growing culture of hate and impunity.
“Such targeted violence is unacceptable and must be condemned unequivocally. Immediate and strict action must be taken against perpetrators,” he said.
Singh further stated that the Government of India cannot remain a mute spectator and must take full responsibility to safeguard the lives, livelihoods, and dignity of Kashmiri traders and all marginalised citizens across the country.
He added that the Indian Youth Congress would stand firmly with the victim and fight for justice.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Kashmiri shawl seller was assaulted by a group of fringe elements in the Vikas Nagar area of Uttarakhand on Wednesday evening. He sustained a fracture in his arm and serious head injuries after being struck with an iron rod. — (KIMS)
