SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological (MeT) Department on Saturday forecast mainly dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir till December 29, with rain and snowfall likely around the New Year.
According to the MeT Department, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry in Jammu and Kashmir from December 27 to 29. On December 30, there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at scattered places.
From December 31 to January 1, light rain or snowfall is likely at many places, while a few higher reaches of north and central Kashmir may receive moderate snowfall.
On January 2, light rain or snowfall is expected at a few places. However, from January 3 to 9, the weather is likely to remain generally dry across Jammu and Kashmir, the department added.
Meanwhile, the summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.6°C, Qazigund minus 2.8°C, Kupwara minus 3.8°C, Pahalgam minus 4.8°C, Gulmarg minus 4.2°C and Kokernag minus 0.9°C on Saturday.
The winter capital Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 7.1°C, Katra 7.6°C, Batote 4.6°C, Kathua 6.2°C, Banihal 2.8°C and Bhaderwah 0.2°C.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded minus 9.9°C and Kargil minus 9.2°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
