MeT forecasts generally dry weather in J&K

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast generally dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain and snow lashed Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

Srinagar recorded 1.2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 2.4 degrees Celsius and minus 10.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Jammu recorded 6.3 degrees Celsius, Katra 5.6 degrees Celsius, Banihal 1.2 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 0.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature while Batote recorded minus 0.5 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Ladakh recorded minus 8.1 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 9.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
