MeT forecasts mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir

Rain, thunderstorm likely at some places in the late afternoon/evening 

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours. However, a brief spell of rain and thunderstorm in the late afternoon/evening can’t be ruled out at some places.

The rain lashed plains while higher reaches including famous tourist destinations including Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamag received snowfall during the last 24 hours in the Union Territory.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, Today, The weather improved significantly and expect further improvement from tomorrow.

“The weather will remain mainly dry in Jammu and Kashmir. A brief spell of rain and thunderstorm in the late afternoon/evening can’t be ruled out at some places, although chances are less”, he said.

He said, From May 10-12, Mainly dry weather, rise in temperature with warmer days is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, From May 13-15, Rain and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 6.3°C, Anantnag 6.0°C, Qazigund 5.8°C, Kupwara 4.7°C, Pahalgam 1.8°C and Kokernag 4.0°C while Gulmarg recorded minus 0.5°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Tuesday.

The winter capital, Jammu recorded 17.4°C, Katra 14.5°C, Batote 7.8°C, Bhaderwah 5.6°C and Banihal 4.8°C as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region, Kargil recorded 0.8°C while Leh recorded minus 1.6°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
