MeT forecasts rain, snow in Jammu and Kashmir during next 48 hours

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours.

The weather was dry in the Union Territory during last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, presently, overcast in whole J&K. February 28 to March 2 light to moderate Snowfall/Rain (thunderstorm with rain in Jammu region) at most places of J&K with main activity on February 28th (evening) to March 1.

He said, light rain/snowfall at isolated pockets may affect surface transportation over major passes like Srinagar-Jammu, Sinthan Top, Sadna Top etc. during March 1 to 2.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded 4.0 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam and Gupmarg recorded minus 1.2 degrees Celsius and minus 3.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Jammu recorded 13.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 12.2 degrees Celsius, Batote 6.0 degrees Celsius, Banihal 2.8 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 4.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Drass town in Ladakh region recorded minus 10.7 degrees Celsius, Kargil minus 5.2 degrees Celsius and Leh minus 6.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.
