MeT forecasts rain, thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir for next 72 hours

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast rain and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir for next 72 hours.

The weather was clear and sunny in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, Rain and thunderstorms is expected today at most places of Kashmir, Zojila-Drass etc and it will spread to Jammu region by evening/night.

He said, From 7-8 May, Rain and thunderstorms is expected at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Hailstorm and gusty wind is also possible at scattered places, he said.

He said, From 9-12 May, Mainly dry weather is expected in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

He also advised farmers to postpone spraying of orchards and harvesting of crops till May 8.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded 10.4°C, Qazigund 8.0°C, Kupwara 7.4°C, Pahalgam 5.4°C, Gulmarg 4.0°C and Kokernag 8.2°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Saturday.

In Jammu region, he said, Jammu recorded 19.7°C, Banihal 9.3°C, Batote 11.6°C, Katra 16.1°C, Bhaderwah 10.0°C and Kathua 19.8°C as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region, he said, Leh recorded minus 0.4°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
