MHA declares Muslim League as ‘Unlawful Association’, accuses it of establishing Islamic rule in J&K

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday declared Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, led by Masarat Alam Bhat  as an ‘Unlawful Association’ and accuses it of establishing Islamic rule in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The Muslim League has been declared as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) also said that the Muslim League and its members are involved in anti-national and militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Home Minister of India, Amit Shah in a post on X said, “The ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction)’/MLJK-MA is declared as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under UAPA.”

“This organization and its members are involved in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K supporting militant activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K,” the post said.

Muslim League was founded by Kashmiri Separatist and Hurriyat leader, Masarat Alam Bhat, who has been lodged in Tihar Jail in New Delhi since 2019 after being booked by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a militant funding case. — (KIMS)
