PAGD leaders house arrested ahead of sit-in protest against delimitation draft report

SRINAGAR — The PAGD (People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) leaders have been house arrested by authorities on Saturday ahead of sit-in protest against the delimitation draft report.

While terming delimitation draft report biased, PAGD had called for sit-in protest on January, 1.

The delimitation commission in its report had proposed seven assembly seats to Jammu and Kashmir out of which six were given to Jammu division and one in Kashmir division.

Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice-President, Omar Abdullah said to scuttle the peaceful PAGD sit-in protest, J&K police illegally locking people in their homes.

A lawless police state, the police have even locked the internal gate connecting my father’s home to my sister’s.

In a tweet, Omar said, “Good morning & welcome to 2022. A new year with the same J&K police illegally locking people in their homes & an administration so terrified of normal democratic activity. Trucks parked outside our gates to scuttle the peaceful JKPAGD sit-in protest. Some things never change.”

“Talk about a lawless police state, the police have even locked the internal gate connecting my father’s home to my sister’s. Yet our leaders have the cheek to tell the world that India is the largest democracy, hah!!,” the tweet added.

Former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti retweeted Omar Abdullah’s tweet.
