Pakistani JeM Commander Among Four Militants Killed In Three Encounters Across Kashmir

SRINAGAR — Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Commander Kamaal Bhai @ Jatt is among four militants killed in three different encounters between government forces and militants across Kashmir valley on Saturday.

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants including a Pakistani Commander were killed and one was arrested alive in an overnight encounter between government forces and militants at Chewakalan village in Pulwama district while as two militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit were killed in Serch, Ganderbal and Nechama, Rajwar in Handwara encounters.

The militants slain in these operations have been identified as JeM Commander Kamaal Bhai @ Jatt, Aqib Mushtaq Bhat, a resident of Karimabad, Pulwama, Suhail Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Turigam, Devbugh, Kulgam and Adil Ah Khan of Badar Kund, Ganderbal.

Militant identified as Rouf Ah Mir, resident of Parigam, affliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) was apprehended at Wahibug, Pulwama.

A civilian identified as Zahoor Ahmad Shergojri was injured during an encounter in Chewakalan, Pulwama. He received bullet injury in his right thigh and is undergoing treatment at District Hospital Pulwama.

Earlier, a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Chewakalan village in Pulwama district on Friday evening. Same kind of search operations were launched by the joint team of forces at Serch, Ganderbal district in Central Kashmir and Nechama, Rajwar area of Handwara town in North Kashmir, following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Arms and ammunition including 3 AK Rifles were recovered from encounter sites. — (KIMS)
