Pakistani JeM militant killed, two civilians, armyman injured in Kulgam encounter

SRINAGAR — A militant, affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit was killed while as two civilians and an armyman were injured during the encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Batpora village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Monday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Batpora village in Kulgam district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, one militant affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit was killed and he has been identified as Abu Hurarah from Pakistan.

Two civilians and an armyman who have been injured during the encounter were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including AK rifle was recovered from the site of encounter.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that Abu Hurarah was involved in several terror crimes. He was also involved in recruitment of local youths in militant ranks. — (KIMS)
