Pakistani Lashkar militant killed in Sopore encounter, three escaped

SRINAGAR — A Pakistani militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Panipora forest of Zaloora area in Sopore town of Baramulla district in North Kashmir on Monday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Panipora forests in Sopore following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, one Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit identified as Hanzalla of Lahore Pakistan was killed. Three other militants including one local escaped during initial stage of encounter and hunt for them is going on.

One AK rifle, 05 magazines along with ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
