Pattan Imam dies in Sopore road accident

SOPORE — An Imam from Pattan lost his life in a bike road accident in the Nowpora Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as (Molvi) Manzoor Ahmad Lone, 34, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, a resident of Goshbugh Pattan, Baramulla.

He had gone to Nowpora village to drop off his wife and was returning back when he lost control of his motorcycle, resulting in critical injuries.

Locals took Lone to SDH Sopore and then he was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident and have started an investigation.

Lone was Imam-o-Khateeb at Markazi Jamia Masjid Lolipora Pattan and has taught hundreds of students in north Kashmir.

Hilal Ahmad Yattoo, Lone’s friend told Rising Kashmir that it is big loss to entire Pattan belt. He was institution in itself.

“Lone was not just ordinary Imam; he possessed profound wisdom and had an extensive understanding of Islamic teachings. Was respected in the community for his insights and guidance,” Hilal said. — (RK)
