Police attaches property of drug peddler worth lakhs under NDPS Act in Srinagar

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential property of a chronic drug peddler under NDPS Act in Srinagar district of Kashmir valley. 

Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential house valuing about Rs 19 lakhs of a chronic drug peddler, Mohammad Younis Wani, son of Mohammad Maqbool Wani of Ranbirgarh Srinagar under the provisions of Section 68 of NDPS Act in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class.

The said drug peddler is presently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar under NDPS Act.

“The accused person is a drug peddler who has been found involved in selling drugs and narcotics among the youth for which a case FIR No. 85/2024 under sections of 8/21 Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act stands registered in Police Station Shalteng, Srinagar,” police said in a statement.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Srinagar Police,” the statement said.

“In compliance to section 68 E and 68 F of NDPS Act, the immovable property acquired by the accused person through illegal means which stands seized and attached, shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise dealt with without the prior permission of the competent authority,” the statement added. — (KIMS)
