SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered ₹5.50 lakhs and 19 cellphones in connection with online financial frauds in the Bandipora district of North Kashmir on Wednesday.
“Acting on multiple complaints from the public regarding various financial frauds, missing/stolen mobile phones, and other social media crimes, police achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering ₹5.50 lakhs from fraudsters’ accounts. The amount was refunded to victims’ bank accounts after completing all legal formalities,” the police said in a statement.
“Additionally, 19 missing/stolen smartphones worth ₹3 lakhs were also recovered and handed over to their rightful owners after the completion of necessary legal procedures,” the statement said.
“The recipients expressed their gratitude and appreciated the police’s relentless efforts in recovering their hard-earned money and mobile phones,” the statement added. — (KIMS)
