JAMMU — Police in Jammu have recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing around 300 grams and valued at approximately ₹50 lakh within 24 hours of registering a theft case, officials said on Saturday.
The recovery was made by Police Station Gandhi Nagar after a complaint was lodged on September 22 by a woman from Ashok Nagar, Jammu, alleging that around 300 grams of gold ornaments, along with her original passport and other personal belongings, had been stolen from her bank locker at J&K Bank’s Shastri Nagar branch.
Following the complaint, police registered FIR No. 266/2026 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and launched an investigation.
During the probe, the SHO Gandhi Nagar, along with a police team and personnel from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), examined the scene and available evidence.
Police said the stolen gold ornaments were recovered through sustained investigation and the use of technical and human resources.
Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway, police said. — (KIMS)
