SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Civil Administration, on Wednesday rescued and evacuated eight nomadic families along with their livestock from the higher reaches of Chattergul in Ganderbal district after incessant rainfall and landslides rendered the area vulnerable and posed a serious threat to their safety.
According to a police statement, the rescue operation was launched after authorities received information about the deteriorating weather conditions and the risk posed by flooding and landslides.
Despite difficult terrain and adverse weather, rescue teams reached the affected area and safely evacuated the stranded families to secure locations.
The statement said the rescued families have been provided with necessary assistance, including safe relocation and other essential support.
Police said the operation reflects the coordinated efforts of Ganderbal Police and the Civil Administration to safeguard lives and ensure the well-being of vulnerable communities during emergencies. — (KIMS)
