NEW DELHI — All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday condemned the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka to ban “clothes which disturb equality, integrity and public order in schools and colleges”.
This came in wake of the hijab row which has escalated in parts of the state.
Owaisi also said that he prays for “our sisters fighting for their right to wear hijab are successful in their fight”.
He was referring to the petitions filed in the Karnataka High Court by some students studying in a Government Pre-University College for Girls in the coastal town of Udupi.
“I pray that our sisters fighting for their right to wear hijab are successful in their fight. Grave violation of the Constitution’s Art 15, 19 & 21 is being committed in Karnataka. I condemn this decision of Karnataka’s BJP govt,” the AIMIM chief said while campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Assembly elections. — (Agencies)
