Pulwama man accused in 2019 Lethpora Attack Case dies of cardiac arrest at Jammu hospital

JAMMU — One of the accused in the infamous Lethpora attack case, died last night due to a cardiac arrest at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu.

An official told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that Bilal Ahmed Kuchay, son of Gh Nabi Kuchay, a resident of Hajibal Kakapora in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir had been incarcerated in District Jail Kishtwar since July 5, 2020, was admitted to the hospital for treatment after his health deteriorated.

According to prison authorities, Kuchay had been receiving treatment at the District Jail Kishtwar’s medical unit before being shifted to GMC Jammu on September 17, 2024. Despite medical efforts, he passed away late last night.

The authorities confirmed that Kuchay had suffered a cardiac arrest, which ultimately led to his death.

Bilal Ahmed Kuchay was among those accused of involvement in the 2019 Pulwama militant attack, commonly referred to as the Lethpora attack, which resulted in the deaths of 40 CRPF personnel.

Kuchay was arrested in July 2020 after a lengthy investigation linked him to the logistical support provided to the attackers. — (KDC)
