Punjab CM terms ‘security breach’ incident unfortunate, blames PM Modi’s ‘change of plan’

CHANDIGARH — Terming the incident of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “security breach” as unfortunate, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said political colour should not be given to the incident.

In a press briefing, Channi said it was wrong to link the farmers’ agitation with the threat to PM’s security.

He clarified that the plan of PM Modi to travel by road was shared at the last moment.

“We were told that the PM would fly by helicopter from Bathinda to Ferozepur. But all of sudden he decided to move by road.”

The chief minister said, “All roads leading to the venue of the rally had been cleared last night. But still agitators came all of sudden on the road. We offered an alternative route to PM to reach the venue but he decided to go back.”

Channi said, “Initially, he was to travel by air, but the travel plan changed”. Channi said the BJP was blaming the Punjab government for political reasons. — (Agencies)
