Rain, snow in Kashmir valley, cloudy sky in Jammu: MeT

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast light to moderate rain, snow in Kashmir valley and cloudy sky with chances of light rain in Jammu division.

Rain and snow lashed Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, “Light to moderate rain/snow is expected to continue in Valley and cloudy sky with chances of light rain in Jammu division during the next 24 hours.”

He said, Srinagar recorded Zero degrees Celsius, Pahalgam minus 2.6 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg minus 4.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region he said, Jammu recorded 8.5 degrees Celsius, Katra 7.2 degrees Celsius, Batote 1.5 degrees Celsius, Banihal 0.3 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 0.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Kargil recorded minus 9.5 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 11.5 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
