Rain, thunderstorm to commence from late afternoon: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast rain and thunderstorm at most places in Jammu and Kashmir from late afternoon.

The weather was mainly clear in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

Today, rain and thunderstorm is very likely to commence from late afternoon onwards at most places in Jammu and Kashmir, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

Widespread light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning with possibility of hailstorm and strong gusty winds is expected at few places in Jammu and Kashmir on May 24, 2023, he said. There is possibility of moderate to heavy snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

He said, From May 25-26, 2023, intermittent rain and thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, From May 27-29, 2023, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 14.8°C, Qazigund 10.8°C, Anantnag 10.6°C, Kupwara 12.6°C, Kokernag 11.6°C, Gulmarg 9.0°C and Pahalgam 10.2°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Tuesday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 26.4°C, Katra 24.4°C, Batote 17.3°C, Bhaderwah 12.7°C, Banihal 14.7°C, Udhampur 22.2°C and Patnitop 17.0°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 5.0°C and Kargil 11.7°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
