Rampant two-wheeler seizures in the valley creating widespread inconvenience: Irfan Manhas

SRINAGAR — DDC Vice Chairman Shopian & Apni Party Youth General Secretary Irfan Manhas on Thursday expressed serious concerns over the widespread two-wheeler seizure drive across the valley wherein even the common man who strictly follows the law has still to face immense inconvenience.

In a statement issued here, Manhas said that the ramping up of security measures in J&K especially Kashmir province maybe need of the hour but a balance needs to be struck so that people don’t suffer in the name of security and are allowed to commute freely.

“I have been receiving distressed calls from the family members of patients, students and many others who say that even after checking the documental veracity of their two-wheeler vehicles, their two wheelers were still impounded,” he said.

Manhas said that normal lives of the people have been seriously influenced with this unprecedented all-in-all crackdown that doesn’t even spare the students and those who follow the law in letter and spirit.

“Such arbitrary moves need to be reviewed. The government must ensure that the common man should be dealt with the law of land without resorting to any excessesive measures. Moreover, forces who aspire to create a wedge between the administration and the people should not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs. I appeal to the Hon’ble LG to personally look into this matter of grave concern where everybody is being painted with same brush. It has created an atmosphere of chaos. The government should act considerately and make certain that people don’t lose their faith in them,” he concluded.
