Residential property of militant associate attached in Anantnag: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — While continuing its crackdown on militant ecosystem, harbouring militants and providing logistic support to them, the Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential property in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Thursday.

The residential property belonging to Ab Salam Rather, son of Mohd Ramzan Rather was attached along with concerned Executive Magistrate at Tangpawa in Kokernag area of the district.

The property was linked with Case FIR No. 170/2022, U/S 307 IPC, 7/25 IA Act, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38, 39 UA (P) Act of Police Station Kokernag.

“During the investigation, it had surfaced that Ab Salam Rather’s son, Zahoor Ahmad Rather was working as militant associate and was providing food, shelter and other logistic support to killed militants identified as Asif Reshi @ Khubaib, son of Mohd Yaseen Reshi, a resident of Sheikhpora Marhama and Wakeel Ahmad Bhat @ Talha, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, a resident of Nai Basti Marhama at his residential house,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a press release.

“Thus, the property falls within ambit of “Proceeds of terrorism’’ under section 2(g) r/w section 25 of UA(P) Act 1967. The confirmation of attachment of property was sanctioned by competent authority,” it said.

“Police once again appeals general public not to provide logistic support to militants, if done, strict action as per law will be taken against the culprits,” it added. — (KIMS)
