Sakina Itoo flags public hardships due to convoy movement on highway

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Minister Sakina Itoo has raised concerns over public inconvenience caused by convoy movement on the Srinagar-Anantnag-Kulgam-Qazigund National Highway, urging the Lieutenant Governor and concerned authorities to introduce practical traffic management measures.

In a post on X, Itoo said ambulances were often stranded, students missed classes and ordinary commuters had to wait for 15 to 30 minutes, sometimes even hours, for convoy movement.

Questioning the hardships faced by the public, she appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted passage for ambulances and minimise inconvenience to commuters while maintaining essential security protocols.

“Security is paramount, but so is the well-being of our people. Security and compassion must go hand in hand,” she said.

Itoo stressed that governance should reflect dignity, sensitivity and meaningful relief in the everyday lives of citizens. — (KIMS)
