Kathua, Apr 18: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, IT, Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma on Friday visited Kathua and interacted with members of the public at Brahman Sabha here.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma outlined the government’s roadmap for holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir, with emphasis on youth empowerment, infrastructure expansion and improved public service delivery.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to restoration of statehood and said sustained efforts are underway to strengthen governance and accelerate development across sectors.
Highlighting transport initiatives, the minister announced introduction of new bus services connecting religious destinations to boost pilgrimage tourism. He added that 10 new buses will be inducted in each district to improve connectivity.
On employment, Sharma said opportunities are being created for around 50,000 youth, while reaffirming the government’s resolve to develop Jammu and Kashmir as a hub of sports excellence. He said two modern stadiums with facilities suitable for hosting IPL matches will be constructed.
The minister also stressed a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and urged youth to support the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
On education, he said the CUET process for students has been simplified to ensure greater accessibility.
Reaffirming his commitment to public welfare, Sharma said he remains open to feedback and will address public concerns in a time-bound manner.
