SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that seven years after the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019, his party remains committed to reversing the measures that took away the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and threatened their identity.
In a post on X, Abdullah said, “Seven years, we haven’t forgotten and we haven’t reconciled, far less accepted our current circumstances.”
He asserted that the National Conference and its leadership remain committed to reversing “all that was done to J&K.”
Quoting lines from Robert Frost’s poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, Abdullah wrote, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep,” reaffirming his party’s resolve to continue its political efforts.
The BJP-led central government abrogated Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The move ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. — (KIMS)
