SRINAGAR — A 25-year-old woman from Shopian district of South Kashmir on Saturday jumped into the river Jhelum in Srinagar and her body was recovered jointly by river police and SDRF team.
Quoting reports, news agency KDC reported that the woman identified as Marifa Jan (25) wife of Amir Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Nayad Gund Shopian jumped into river Jhelum near Amira Kadal bridge in Srinagar.
They said that following the incident, a rescue team immediately rushed to the spot and launched searches. Later a team of river police and SDRF jointly recovered the body.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is going on.
