Six gamblers arrested in Pulwama, stake money seized: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that they have arrested six gamblers in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and recovered stake money from their possession.

Police in a statement said, Acting on specific information regarding gambling activities at public place in Loswani, a police party of Police Post Newa raided the specific spot and arrested the 06 gamblers.

The arrested gamblers have been identified as Khurshed Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohd resident of Loswani, Rameez Ahmad Dar son of Farooq Ahmad Dar resident of Ashmander, Shakeel Ahmad Dar son of Ab Rehman resident of Manghoma, Mohd Yousuf Ganie son of Gh Mohd Ganie resident of Newa, Fayaz Ah Sheikh son of Gh Ahmad resident of Karimabad and Mushtaq Ah Magray son of Gh Ahmad resident of Wahibugh and they have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the statement said.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹33,500/- and playing cards from their possession, the statement said.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station and investigation has been initiated, the statement said. — (KIMS)
