SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF apprehended six alleged terrorist associates in two separate operations in Shopian district on Tuesday, recovering hand grenades, AK-47 magazines, ammunition and incriminating posters, police said.
According to a police statement, in the first operation at Heerpora, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK18B-6130 was intercepted during naka checking.
Three persons identified as Junaid Muzaffar Dar, son of Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, a resident of Chaddar, Kulgam; Aamir Yousuf, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Chaddar, Kulgam; and Junaid Bashir Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Matalhama, Kulgam, were apprehended.
Police said two hand grenades and incriminating posters were recovered from their possession. In this connection, FIR No. 84/2026 was registered at Police Station Heerpora under relevant provisions of law.
In a separate operation in the Imamsahib area, joint patrolling by Shopian Police, 34 Rashtriya Rifles and 178 Battalion CRPF led to the apprehension of three more individuals.
The apprehended persons were identified as Haris Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad, a resident of Axadpora, Anantnag; Ashiq Hussain, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag; and Arif Ahmad Kumar, son of Ghulam Rasool Kumar, a resident of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag.
During their search, police recovered one hand grenade, two AK-47 magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition and incriminating posters. FIR No. 59/2026 was registered at Police Station Imamsahib under relevant provisions of law.
Police said further investigation in both cases is underway to ascertain the activities of the arrested persons and establish their possible terror linkages.
