SRINAGAR — Due to fresh snowfall in Kashmir valley, all the examinations scheduled to be held today have been postponed, land and air traffic has also been disrupted.
A notification issued by Controller of Examinations, Kashmir University Dr Majid Zaman reads, “The University of Kashmir has postponed all UG/PG/Professional examinations of the University scheduled to be held on February 23, 2022 (Wednesday) in view of the inclement weather conditions.”
“Fresh dates for the postponed papers will be notified separately,” the notification added.
“All the examinations of Cluster University Srinagar scheduled on 23rd February, 2022 have been postponed due to inclement weather. Fresh dates for postponed papers shall be notified separately,” reads the notification issued by Controller of Examinations, Cluster University Srinagar.
Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Medical University also informed that all scheduled exams have been postponed and fresh dates will be notified separately. “All the Examinations of the SKIMS Medical University scheduled for today 23rd February, 2022 have been postponed due to inclement weather. Fresh dates will be notified separately.” said Controller Examinations SKIMS.
Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) postponed Type (Skill) Test for the post of Election Assistant scheduled to be held today on 23.02.2022 at NIELIT Budgam (Kashmir based candidates) in view of the inclement weather conditions prevailing in the Kashmir. Fresh dates shall be announced separately.
The Document Verification for Class-IV posts scheduled on 23.02.2022 at JKSSB camp office Rambagh Srinagar (Kashmir based candidates) has also been postponed.
Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) also postponed prosecuting officer (Main) Examination due to inclement weather. “It is for the information of all the eligible candidates who are appearing in the Prosecuting officer (Main) Examination 2021 that due to inclement weather, Paper VI (special Law-I) scheduled for today, i.e.23.O2.2O22 is hereby postponed and shall now be held on Friday. 25.02.2022 from 10.00 AM to 01.00 PM,” reads the notification.
“The venue for the examination shall remain the same,” the notification added.
Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed for vehicular movement due to landslides and shooting stones at many places on the thoroughfare and snow accumulation around the NVYUG Tunnel.
Mughal Road, connecting Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri districts, remained closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation at Peer Ki Gali.
Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road remained shut for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation on Zoji la axis and has been closed till further orders. Kishtwar-Sinthan road also remained closed in view of snow accumulation.
The train service between Baramulla-Banihal track will also remain suspended today due to snowfall.
The flight operations at Srinagar International Airport have been disrupted due to snowfall in the valley as many flights have been cancelled. “We are having continuous snowfall at our airport. Our Snow Clearing operations are also in continuous progress on runway and Apron. However the visibility is only 400M.”
The Meteorological Department had earlier predicted widespread snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir on February 22-23. — (KIMS)
