SRINAGAR — In a major crackdown on narcotics and its financial infrastructure, Srinagar Police has attached a property worth approximately ₹1 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property—comprising a single-storey residential house and 17 marlas of land at Lawaypora, Srinagar—belongs to Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, son of Late Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, a known drug peddler involved in FIR No. 39/2025 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act at Police Station Shalteng.
Zubair has a history of involvement in narcotic and criminal activities and is named in multiple FIRs across the UT FIR No. 16/2020 – PS Parimpora, FIR No. 73/2020 – PS Parimpora, FIR No. 170/2019 – PS Sumbal, FIR No. 61/2023 – PS Shalteng, FIR No. 08/2024 – PS Pattan, FIR No. 61/2024 – PS Shalteng, FIR No. 39/2025 – PS Shalteng.
Investigations revealed that the property was acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, police formally attached the immovable property. It cannot be sold, transferred, or dealt with without approval from the competent authority.
This move is part of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader campaign to target drug networks by dismantling their financial backbone.
Srinagar Police has urged the public to remain vigilant and report drug-related activities, emphasizing that community support is essential for a drug-free society.
