Six FIRs Registered, Flying Squads Deployed, Recoveries Made
Srinagar: Acting on reports of rotten and unhygienic meat being sold in the district, Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Civil Administration and the Department of Food Safety, has launched a dedicated crackdown to curb the menace.
So far, six FIRs have been registered against individuals and establishments for violating public health and safety regulations FIR No. 45/2025 u/s 271, 275 BNS – PS Lal Bazar, FIR No. 90/2025 u/s 272, 275 BNS – PS Bemina, FIR No. 67/2025 u/s 271, 275 BNS & 51 Food Safety Act – PS Batamaloo, FIR No. 102/2025 u/s 271, 280 BNS – PS Safakadal,FIR No. 73/2025 u/s 271, 275 BNS – PS Ram Munshi Bagh, FIR No. 48/2025 u/s 61, 271, 275 BNS – PS Zakura
A Flying Squad comprising officials from District Police, Civil Administration, and Food Safety Department has been constituted to conduct surprise inspections across Srinagar. Significant quantities of rotten meat have already been seized and destroyed as per protocol.
Srinagar Police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found endangering the lives of citizens.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and immediately report such malpractices to the nearest police station or through designated helpline numbers.
