Strict action should be taken against those sharing ‘suicide clips’: Dr. Rizwan Rumi

All suicide prone points must be fenced to avoid attempts

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Dr Rizwan Rumi, Executive Member South Asian Center for Peace, Democracy and Development (SACPDD) said, the government should take strict action against those persons who film and share videos of suicide attempts.

Referring to Kulgam youth’s alleged suicide on Sunday, Dr Rizwan said, “sharing such sensitive videos may sometimes provoke others to commit suicide,” adding “it is illegal to film and share such video which are sensitive in nature.”

Dr Rizwan further said, “the law enforcing agencies should take strict action against every person who film and share such video and that person should be punished as per law.”

The government should also do fencing at each place which are becoming suicidal points to avoid further suicide killings, he added.

Pertinently, Kashmir valley is witnessing rise in suicide cases from last couple of months. Mostly young boys and girls are attempting suicide which is alarming. — (KIMS)
