Summer vacation in Kashmir schools extended till July 22; Classes to resume on July 23

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Saturday issued an order extending the summer vacation in all Government and recognized private schools across Kashmir Province till July 22, 2026.

According to an order issued by the Director School Education Kashmir, the extension has been approved by the competent authority and is in continuation of the Directorate’s earlier Order No. 243-DSEK of 2026 dated June 30, 2026.

The order states that the summer vacations, which were earlier scheduled to end on July 19, have now been extended till July 22 (Wednesday). All Government and recognized private schools in Kashmir Province shall reopen on July 23, 2026 (Thursday).

Meanwhile, Education Minister Sakina Itoo, in a post on X, said the decision to extend the summer vacation was taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions.

She said the extension applies to all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division up to July 22 (Wednesday). — (KIMS)
