JAMMU (KIMS) — Demonstrating prompt action and effective investigation, Reasi Police have solved a temple theft case in Katra within days, leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen gold ornaments.
On October 15, a complaint was received at Police Station Katra regarding the theft of gold ornaments from the idol inside a temple located in the main bazaar area. Acting swiftly, police registered FIR No. 281/2025 under Sections 331(4) and 305(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and investigation was taken up.
Through diligent fieldwork and analysis of leads, police identified and apprehended the suspect, Shakti Kumar Verma, son of Sansar Chand, resident of Garhi, District Udhampur.
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft. On his disclosure, 30 grams of gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹3 lakh were recovered from his possession.
“The swift detection of this case reflects the dedication and efficiency of Reasi Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring justice to the community,” an official said. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the accused’s involvement in any similar incidents.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Khyatiman Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Shri Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
