SRINAGAR — Three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit and one army porter were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Jumagund village in Kupwara district of North Kashmir on Thursday.
Reports said an encounter started when the infiltrating militants were intercepted by army and police based on a specific input developed by Kupwara police regarding infiltration attempt of militants in Jumagund village in Kupwara.
They said that three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed and they have been identified as Pakistani.
Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 03 AK series rifles, 12 AK Magazines, 01 Pistol, 02 Pistol Magazines and 03 Mobile Phones were recovered from their possession.
Army porter identified as Ab Lateef Mir, son of Ab Majeed Mir from Kuchiban Jumagund was injured during the encounter. He was taken to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Pertinently it was second encounter in North Kashmir in less than 24 hours. On Wednesday, three Pakistani militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit and a J&K Police cop were killed in an encounter in Kreeri Baramulla. — (KIMS)
