PULWAMA — Three militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Pahoo area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Sunday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Pahoo following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, three militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) outfit were killed and they have been identified as Arif Ahmad Hazar @ Rehan Mustafa, Natish Shakeel Wani @ Haider Sani from Baba Demb Khanyar, Srinagar and a Pakistani militant Abu Huzaifa @ Haqqani.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, “Arif was deputy of LeT’s top commander (Basit). He was involved in killings of Insp Parvez infront of mosque, SI Arshid & 1 mobile shop owner in downtown. Several FIRs against him in Srinagar city”. — (KIMS)
