Three local LeT militants slain in Anantnag anti-militancy operation

ANANTNAG – Three local militants were slain in an anti-militancy operation in Vailoo village in Anantnag district in Southern Kashmir.

Reports said that the anti-militancy operation was launched by joint team of government forces including Indian Army’s 19RR, CRPF and J&K Police on Tuesday morning following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Three militants were slain in this anti-militancy operation and they have been identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar alias Sameer from Danwathpora Kokernag, Ubaid Shafi alias Abdullah from Batamaloo Srinagar and Aqib Ahmad Lone alias Sahil from Khandaypora Kulgam.

The trio were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit.

“One AK-47 rifle, two pistols and other incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter,” police said.

“The last rites of the killed (militants) shall be performed after conducting medico-legal formalities and the nearest family members of local (militants) shall be allowed to participate in the last rites,” they added. – (KIMS)
