Three militant associates arrested in Anantnag; Arms and Ammunition seized

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a major success, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Indian Army and CRPF, arrested three militant associates in Anantnag district and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.

The militant associates were arrested during a naka checking at Wopzan Trijunction in the Bijbehara area of the district. This operation marks a significant blow to militant activities in the district.

The arrested aoociates have been identified as Umaiq Mushtaq Zargar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, a resident of Karewa Colony, Bijbehara; Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Yaqoob Dar, a resident of Dar Mohalla, Arwani; and Shahid Ahmad Gadhanji, son of Sonaullah Gadhanji, also a resident of Dar Mohalla, Arwani.

During the operation, security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including a pistol, two pistol magazines, 23 pistol rounds, and two grenades.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio was planning subversive activities in and around the Anantnag district under the guidance of LeT handlers.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case at Police Station Bijbehara under FIR No. 172/2024, citing Section 7/27 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
