Tragedy struck Budgam family as Geyser blast claims life, injures 2 others

BUDGAM — Tragedy struck early Wednesday morning at the village of Narkara in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, when a geyser explosion at a local residence resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

An official said that the incident occurred at the home of Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar and the huge explosion caused significant structural damage to the house, leading to its collapse.

He said that due to the collapse, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, who was inside at the time, was buried under the rubble and died on the spot; however locals managed to extricate two family members from the debris, who sustained various injuries in the incident.

The injured were swiftly transported to JVC hospital in Srinagar, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

As soon as the news spread in the area, thousands of people gathered in the village to offer their condolences to the bereaved family.

Later, a massive crowd attended the funeral of the deceased amidst tears and sobs, bidding their final farewell to Manzoor. — (KNO)
