Two arrested in Jammu after opening fire on two men amid land dispute

JAMMU — Two persons were arrested for opening fire on two others amidst a land dispute near the RS Pura border belt in Jammu region on Friday.

The victims, Vijay Kumar and Suresh Kumar, sustained injuries and were promptly hospitalized, and their condition is said to be stable.

According to officials, the accused, accompanied by their relatives, intervened to prevent Vijay and Suresh from collecting fodder in Filora village on Thursday evening.

A confrontation ensued, escalating into the accused firing in a fit of anger, resulting in injuries to Vijay and Suresh.

The injured were swiftly taken to a hospital, where doctors said their condition is stable.

Subsequently, the accused, identified as Tarseem Singh and Onkar Singh, initially fled from the spot but were later arrested. The hunt for a third suspect in connection with the incident is on.

Police have filed charges against Tarseem Singh, Onkar Singh, and others under sections related to attempted murder, the Arms Act, and other pertinent charges.

Notably, a pistol, 12-bore gun, and a large knife were recovered from the accused individuals. — (PTI).
