Two drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama; charas, heroin seized

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said they arrested two persons in separate operations in Pulwama district and recovered sizeable quantities of contraband substances from their possession.

In the first incident, a police team from Police Station Litter intercepted a vehicle (JK13J-1331) during naka checking at Gudoora crossing while it was travelling from Chandgam towards Nownagri. During the search, around 750 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from a carry bag inside the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Mudasir Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohidin Malik of Tahab. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence was also seized. Accordingly, FIR No. 17/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Litter and investigation was taken up.

In a separate operation, a naka party of Police Station Pulwama apprehended Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Rakhi Shilwat Sumbal in Bandipora, again at Gudoora crossing. During his personal search, approximately 137.5 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Following the seizure, FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Pulwama and further investigation is underway.

Police said the drive against drug peddling will continue and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to narcotics so that strict legal action can be taken against those involved in such unlawful activities. — (KIMS)
