SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar on Sunday and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“A vehicle (Alto car) bearing Registration No. JK01J-7081 was intercepted at a checkpoint established at Barthana with two persons identified as Ahmad Sheikh, Son of Lateef Ahmad Sheikh of Barthana Qamarwari and Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Son of Ab Razaq Sheikh of Babapora Barthana on board. During search of the vehicle, 628 grams of Charas and 650 grams of Cannabis Powder was recovered from their possession,” police said in a statement.
Subsequently, they were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 136/2024 has been registered at Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.
Police has urged the common masses that “if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, kindly contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112.”
Police has also requested the general public to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
“We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” they said. — (KIMS)
