SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Srinagar.
A police team during patrolling from Bemina Chowk to Boatman Colony intercepted a vehicle coming from Bemina Chowk to Boatman colony was noticed being driven suspiciously and recklessly and the driver tried to flee however the vehicle was tactfully stopped.
Upon stopping, the driver immediately jumped out and fled from the spot. While the other co-passenger remained inside and was apprehended on the spot who disclosed his name as Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Woyan Pampore.
During questioning, the arrested accused disclosed the name of the driver-cum-owner of the vehicle as Mudasir Ahmad Pir son of Shareef-U-Din Pir resident of Firdous Colony Bemina.
During search, about substantial quantity of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the Dash board of vehicle.
Moreover, one weighing machine and a mobile phone was also seized on spot. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 18/2025 under relevant section of NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Bemina. Search for another accused person who fled from the spot is underway.
In another action, Police team of Police Station Sadder during routine patrolling duty at Rawalpora-Peerbagh link road, intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person.
During search, substantial quantity of contraband Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aqib Farooq Bhat, a notorious drug peddler, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat resident of Nadirgund, Peerbagh Hyderpora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.16/2025 under NDPS Act has been registered in PS Sadder and investigation has been initiated. — (KIMS)
