SAMBA — Police in Samba have arrested two alleged drug peddlers in two separate cases and recovered approximately 14.46 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession, officials said on Saturday.
In the first case, a police team from Police Station Samba intercepted a motorcycle at SIDCO Chowk during a naka. The motorcycle, bearing registration number JK21H-8952, was coming from Vijaypur towards Samba.
During checking, police recovered around 8.23 grams of heroin-like substance from the rider, identified as Surjeet Kumar, a resident of Sadyiali, Naikali Nud, Samba. He was arrested and the motorcycle was seized.
A case under FIR No. 264/2026 has been registered at Police Station Samba under Sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act, and investigation has been initiated.
In a separate incident, a team from Police Station Bari Brahmana intercepted a pedestrian near Mulk Raj Colony who was coming from Dhayansar towards Bishnah Road.
During frisking, police recovered around 6.23 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. The accused was identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Haria Chak, Kathua, presently residing near Shivji Mandir, SICOP Complex, Bari Brahmana.
A case under FIR No. 283/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. — (KIMS)
