Two Hizb militants slain in Pampore encounter

SRINAGAR — Two local militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant group were killed in an encounter between government forces and militants at Khrew area of Pampore town in Pulwama district on Friday morning.

The slain militants have been identified as Musaib Ahmad Bhat from Khrew Pampore and Muzamil Ahmad Rather from Chakoora Pulwama.

Earlier joint team of Government forces including Indian Army’s 50 RR, 185 BN CRPF and J&K Police had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Khrew area of Pampore following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Incriminating material, arms and ammunition including One AK-Rifle and One Pistol were recovered from the site of encounter.

Meanwhile police in a statement said Musaib was involved in killing of a civilian Javid Ahmad Malik (peon) at Lurgam area of Tral and was part of hit squad of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. Another militant Muzamil had joined militant ranks recently.
