Two local militants killed in Kulgam encounter

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Kujjar village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Wednesday.

Reports said, a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Kujjar village in Kulgam district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said, as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, two militants were killed and they have been identified as Basit Amin Bhat from Frisal Kulgam and Saqib Ahmad Lone from Hawoora Kulgam. The duo were affiliated with militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 02 AK rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
