SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Sagipora area of Sopore town in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Friday morning.
According to reports, the encounter broke out on Thursday evening after a joint team of security forces, including the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Sagipora area of Sopore, following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The encounter was halted for night due to darkness. The operation resumed on Friday morning which led to the killing of two militants and they have been identified as Pakistani militants.
Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including two AK Rifles, eight AK Magazines, one Hand Grenade, one Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, and other war-like stores were recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
